New Patient Forms
Thank you for taking the time to learn about pediatric
dentistry. We recognize that choosing your child's
dentist requires careful consideration and therefore we
offer the following information about our office.
We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric
Dentistry, recommend the first dental examination by the
age one. We plan to guide your child's dental health
from the first visit through the teenage years with the
latest dental products and techniques proven by
research.
Before the first visit with Dr. Trotter, we encourage
you to talk with your child about the positive aspects
of dentistry. Help your child feel comfortable by
expressing good feelings about dental visits as a
necessary part of staying healthy. By using phrases
like "gentle and careful" instead of "won't hurt you"
when describing their exam, your child will be more
relaxed during their exam.
Parents are encouraged to stay with their child
throughout the treatment and siblings are welcome to
watch the exam and cleaning.
Dr. Trotter feels strongly that it is not beneficial to
attempt dental treatment while your child is anxious.
We offer age appropriate explanations, nitrous oxide,
and various levels of conscious sedation to enhance your
child's comfort during dental procedures.
Pediatric
dentistry is the specialty of dentistry that focuses on
the oral health and unique needs of young people, and
requires two to three years of additional training.
This specialized program of study and hands-on
experience prepares pediatric dentists to meet the
unique needs of infants and children.
Establishing us as your child's "Dental
Home" provides an opportunity to implement
preventive dental health habits that can keep a child
free from dental/oral disease. We focus on prevention,
early detection and treatment of dental diseases, and
keep current on the latest advances in dentistry for
children.
Pleasant visits to the dental office promote a trust and
confidence within your child that will last a lifetime.
Our goal is to help all children feel good about
visiting the dentist and to teach them how to care for
their teeth. Our special office designs and our
communication style reinforce our main concern - your
child's dental health and the development of a lifetime
of healthy dental habits.
